What is an adjustment?
A gentle, specific “thrust” delivered by hand or instrument. The purpose of the adjustment is to correct your spinal subluxation(s) thus removing the nerve interference in your body. The important thing for a patient to keep in mind is to remain relaxed, because stiffening up may impede the adjustment process. Adjustments have been shown to: increase the body’s secretion of “good” chemicals such as melatonin and endorphins blood flow, pain tolerance levels, range of motion, as well as reduce blood pressure, tension and muscle pressure.
What is a subluxation?
Misalignment of one or more of your spinal bones (vertebrae), which causes interference to your nervous system. If your nervous system is interfered with, your body’s natural ability to heal itself and function at its optimum potential becomes impaired. A subluxation is a perfect example of how structure effects function.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes. Statistics show that chiropractic care is one of the safest forms of healthcare in the world. When comparing malpractice insurance premiums paid by chiropractors to those paid by medical doctors, Chiropractic Physicians pay only a small fraction (approx. 1/20) of the price medical doctors pay.
Are all chiropractors/adjustments the same?
Not all chiropractors are alike. Although they go by the same name, chiropractors today differ greatly in technique and philosophy. It is nearly impossible to find two chiropractors that adjust the same way. So, when patients go to different chiropractors, they may recieve different opinions, treatments and results, not to mention costs. This can be both confusing and frustrating to the patient. If expectations are not met, patients stop chiropractic care, and never get to experience the great results chiropractic care can give them. If you know what type of care you prefer, mention it when calling our Chiropractic office.
